During the fall and winter respiratory virus season, we also offer:

Understanding the Diseases These Vaccines Help Prevent

Tetanus

Tetanus is a serious disease caused by bacteria commonly found in soil, dust, and manure. The bacteria can enter the body through cuts or puncture wounds—even from something as simple as stepping on a nail or being injured while gardening.

Once inside the body, tetanus affects the nervous system and can cause severe muscle stiffness, painful muscle spasms, difficulty swallowing, and trouble breathing. Because there is no cure for tetanus, prevention through vaccination remains the best protection.

Most adults should receive a tetanus booster every 10 years, or sooner after certain injuries if recommended by a healthcare provider.

Shingles

Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox. After recovering from chickenpox, the virus remains inactive inside the body and can reactivate years—or even decades—later.

The result is a painful rash that often appears as a band of blisters on one side of the body. For some people, the pain can continue long after the rash has healed, a condition known as postherpetic neuralgia (PHN).

The shingles vaccine helps reduce the risk of developing shingles and can also lower the likelihood of long-term nerve pain.

Influenza (Flu)

Influenza is much more than a bad cold. It can cause fever, body aches, fatigue, cough, and serious complications, particularly for older adults, young children, pregnant individuals, and those with certain chronic health conditions.

Because flu viruses change from year to year, an annual flu vaccine is recommended each fall to provide the best available protection for the upcoming season.

COVID-19

COVID-19 continues to circulate and can still cause serious illness, especially in older adults and people with underlying health conditions.

Updated COVID-19 vaccines are designed to help reduce the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and complications as the virus continues to evolve.

No Appointment Necessary

There’s no need to schedule an appointment.

Simply stop by during our regular business hours. Before receiving your vaccination, we’ll ask you to complete a brief wellness screening to help ensure the vaccine is appropriate and safe for you.

Our goal is to make the process simple, convenient, and comfortable.

Not Sure If You’re Due?

Many adults aren’t certain when they last received a tetanus booster or whether they’re eligible for the shingles vaccine.

If you have questions, stop by Lake Isabella Pharmacy and speak with a member of our pharmacy team. We’ll be happy to review your questions, discuss the vaccines we offer, and help you determine whether you may be due based on current recommendations. If a prescription is needed, we’ll let you know what the next steps are.
